Allen Kitchen & Bath's Makeover Minute

What $65,000 Can Really Build

Madison area kitchen remodel proves that premium materials, thoughtful storage, and striking design do not have to break the budget.

Not every kitchen remodel needs to feel like a compromise between style and budget. This Madison area kitchen combines striking navy blue cabinetry, warm oak tones, and premium materials throughout, all delivered for under $65,000. It's proof that bold design and honest pricing can exist in the very same project.

Setting the Tone With Color

This kitchen was designed around a bold color pairing: deep navy blue cabinetry balanced by warm oak tones.

A custom curved island, complete with a fluted pedestal base painted to match the navy cabinetry, anchors the entire room. It's a striking centerpiece that feels more like furniture than function.

This kitchen has transformed with real personality, one that still feels warm and completely livable.

Function Behind Every Door

The cabinets are Forevermark Petite Shaker doors, finished in a combination of navy blue maple and an oak sand stain.

Behind those doors is serious storage: three separate pantry cabinets, a built-in double waste basket, and a microwave fully concealed within one of the pantry units. Nothing about this kitchen feels cluttered, because everything has a place.

The Details That Elevate Every Countertop

The countertops are Corian Peppered Terrazzo, paired with an undermount quartz 40/60 double bowl sink.

A Moen commercial style pull down faucet adds serious functionality at the sink, along with a built-in air gap and a stainless steel water filtration dispenser. The backsplash is a 2x6 VT Rebels tile in popcorn, adding subtle texture behind the range.

Upgrades You Won't See, But Will Feel

Behind the scenes, this kitchen received a full electrical upgrade, including three new 20 amp outlets, dedicated power for the dishwasher and microwave, four recessed wafer lights, and four dimmer switches.

The range hood was relocated for better function, and new drywall and paint pulled every wall and ceiling together for a completely fresh finish.

What We Found Beneath the Floor

During demolition, an asbestos tile floor was discovered beneath the original wood flooring, a common surprise in older Madison area homes.

Removing and properly disposing of it added about $3,000 to the project. Rather than cut corners, the team handled it correctly, then installed a brand new ceramic floor with fresh underlayment throughout. It's exactly why working with a licensed, experienced team matters.

What $65,000 Really Included

This full kitchen transformation, including permits, demolition, a complete electrical upgrade, new flooring, cabinetry, countertops, appliances, plumbing, and finish work, came in at under $65,000.

That number includes the unexpected asbestos removal. No shortcuts, and no separate invoices later. Just one beautifully finished kitchen and a clear picture of exactly what it took to get there.
